The Vitra Schaudepot houses one of the world's most significant design collections, featuring around 20,000 items, including 7,000 furniture pieces and over 1,000 lighting objects from renowned designers like Charles and Ray Eames, Verner Panton, and Alexander Girard.

Opened in summer 2016 and designed by Herzog & de Meuron, the Schaudepot showcases a permanent exhibition of over 400 key modern furniture objects from 1800 to today. This book serves as a field guide to furniture design history while highlighting the museum's unique collection and the architects' latest building.
