Description

In 1933, Frank Lloyd Wright transformed the gymnasium of his Hillside Home School in Spring Green, Wisconsin, into a theater, creating lighting pendants made of rectangular light boxes and plywood shields for indirect lighting. After a fire in 1952, he adapted these fixtures for the dining room, attaching them to an oak beam. He appreciated their soft indirect light so much that he had a matching standing floor lamp made for his home, Taliesin.
