The aesthetic hallmark of the .05 chair is its sleek, reductive shape. The resilient seat shell, made of integral skin foam with embedded leaf springs, is combined with a cantilever base that flexes slightly when the sitter leans back to provide an unexpected level of comfort. The .05 chair is suited for outdoor use and is also available in a stacking version.
The designer Maarten Van Severen started creating furniture in the mid-1980s, initially producing the pieces himself in his Ghent workshop. His designs are characterised by their simple form and superb comfort. The collaboration with Vitra began in 1996, resulting in the Van Severen Collection.
Seat Shell: Cantilever chair with seat shell made of integral skin polyurethane foam. Shell with upholstered effect, self-supporting on a tubular stainless steel frame. Flexible backrest with integrated leaf springs.
Base: Stacking (max. 5 chairs) or non-stacking base in stainless steel with satin or powder-coated finish. Fitted with plastic glides for carpet or felt glides for hard floors.
Outdoor Use: Version with powder-coated base suitable for utilisation outdoors on a temporary or seasonal basis, following care instructions. After prolonged exposure to the elements, clean and store away in a dry, sheltered place to ensure lasting use and avoid any deterioration in appearance.
