Description
The Umbrella Stand 115 stands out in Artek's collection, combining birch and brass in a design featuring three solid birch pillars connected by two hand-bent lamella loops. These loops, crafted with the effort of two people, have a single seam. A brass pan in the triangular base catches rainwater and, over time, develops a unique patina through use.
Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto was a Finnish architect and designer. His work includes architecture, furniture, textiles and glassware, as well as sculptures and paintings. He never regarded himself as an artist, seeing painting and sculpture as "branches of the tree whose trunk is architecture.
