Description

The Tom Vac Chair began as part of the "Totem" sculpture, featuring 70 stacking chairs commissioned by Domus for the 1997 Salone del Mobile. Based on Ron Arad's earlier sketches for a Tel Aviv dining room, its wave-profile seat shell posed manufacturing challenges. A small aluminum series was produced, and with Vitra, Arad quickly developed a mass-production version, shifting from his usual one-off designs.
