The Classic Trays collection showcases Alexander Girard's playful post-WWII designs, reflecting the era's optimism. Vitra re-edited some of his patterns in collaboration with Girard's family for the Vitra Home Complements Collection. Made of laminated plywood, the trays should be hand-washed only.

Alexander Girard, 1945-1974

The architect and designer Alexander Girard was one of the leading figures in American design during the postwar era. His passion for colors, patterns, and textures found expression in the field of textile design, which was a focal part of his oeuvre. Another prolific designer, Jean Prouvé who regarded himself more as an engineer or metal-worker throughout his lifetime, was both the designer and manufacturer of his product ideas.
