The Classic Trays collection showcases Alexander Girard's playful post-WWII designs, reflecting the era's optimism. Vitra re-edited some of his patterns in collaboration with Girard's family for the Vitra Home Complements Collection. Made of laminated plywood, the trays should be hand-washed only.
The architect and designer Alexander Girard was one of the leading figures in American design during the post-war era. His passion for colours, patterns, and textures found expression in the field of textile design, which was a focal part of his oeuvre. Another prolific designer, Jean Prouvé who regarded himself more as an engineer or metal-worker throughout his lifetime, was both the designer and manufacturer of his product ideas.
