Description
Artek commemorates its 90th anniversary in 2025 with a poster designed by Finnish contemporary artist Inka Bell. Just as the Aaltos merged industrial production techniques with humane natural materials, Inka Bell’s work merges analogue printmaking with new techniques in mark making and image making. The poster is inspired by Alvar Aalto’s Screen 100.
The original artwork reinterprets the screen’s contours through experiments in silk screen printing, involving layers of blue and black ink. These layers of ink are then laser-engraved from the paper to varying degrees. The end result is a balance of the unexpected and the familiar, with the defined geometric patterns and human essence serving as a shared visual language between Artek and the artist.
