For Nuage, designers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec executed their famous cloud motif in extruded aluminum profiles of varying lengths to create a unique vase for Vitra.
A simple and classic design has always been one of Vitra's characteristics. The distinctive cylindrical shape of the Nuage vase can be found in various forms in the Bouroullec brothers' work.
As early as 2002, their modular shelving system Cloud used this concept: Irregular blocks composed of tubes, creating an irregular outer surface so as to make it possible to combine the blocks in all directions. Now, this concept has been applied to vases, creating 12 vases of different heights and colors. Just like the Cloud shelving system, the Nuage vases can be combined in an infinite number of possibilities.

Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, 2016
Ronan (born 1971) and Erwan Bouroullec (born 1976) are brothers and designers based in Paris. They have been working together for about fifteen years bonded by diligence and challenged by their distinct personalities.
Vitra is much more than a brand but rather a staple of design. Established in 1950 in Birsfelden, Switzerland, the brand has left its mark on design history through its transcending path. Starting as a furniture producer, it paved its way to manufacturing and ultimately became the powerhouse design institution we see today.
